Finding a dentist

Free NHS Dental Care

You can get free NHS dental care. If you are:

  • a child under 18, or under 19 and in full‑time education
  • pregnant
  • a mother who has had a baby in the last 12 months

Registering with a dentist

It is helpful to register the whole family with an NHS dentist. Parents do not need to be registered for their child to join a dentist.

Good oral health matters for everyone, and children learn from seeing their parent or carer go to the dentist too.

If NHS spaces are limited

In some areas, NHS dentist spaces are limited. You may need to:

  • join a waiting list
  • call several dental practices to ask if they have space

You can search online for a NHS dentist near you
