We all get aches and pains in our joints, muscles and spine from time to time. These musculoskeletal (MSK) symptoms become a problem if they get in the way of what we want to do in our daily lives. Persistent pain (that is pain that goes on for longer than we expect) can affect our physical and mental health and can also get in the way of work and socialising. Persistent MSK pain is common and can affect anyone.

All our physiotherapists and doctors are experts in assessing MSK symptoms. We focus on working with you to help you manage your condition. If we identify a need for further investigations or specialist treatments, we are able to arrange these if there is evidence that they are an appropriate part of care. We work closely with GP practices and with hospital specialists to provide access to the care you need. First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) work within most GP practices in Leeds and can offer initial advice and support for MSK problems. They can also refer you to the MSK service if appropriate.
