Introduction to MMST group support

MindMate support teams offer group support for a range of emotional well-being difficulties.

Our practitioners are trained professionals who work with groups of young people utilising Low Intensity CBT approaches to help improve their difficulties.

You will typically have 6  group sessions lasting around 1 hour.

Sessions will take place in your education setting.

We offer group support on a range of topics such as:

  • Coping with anxiety
  • Understanding and managing emotions
  • Understanding low mood
  • Worry management
  • Self-esteem
  • Coping with stress
  • Building resilience

Supporting information

Being in a group with other young people who are experiencing similar difficulties can be really supportive.

The group setting will provide you with an opportunity to learn about mental health difficulties and discuss these with the group, which by learning about other experiences helps us feel less alone.

You will complete activities which help deepen your understanding of the difficulties which helps us to be able to make changes.

Strategies will be taught which help you manage the difficulties.

Whilst MindMate support teams encourage all group members to engage in the sessions as much as they feel comfortable, the more you put in, the more you will get out.

You will be asked to complete out of sessions tasks to help embed your learning.

You will be asked to practice strategies between group sessions to help you learn which strategies you find useful.
