/Our services (A to Z)/The school aged immunisation service/Missed vaccinations and community clinics

Missed vaccinations and community clinics

For those who are not educated in school, missed the school sessions or need to be immunised in a clinical setting, we offer community clinic appointments throughout the year. The community clinic offer for missed vaccinations is until 31st August the year your child finishes school year 11.

If your child misses their opportunity to receive their vaccinations in school, you will automatically be sent a text message inviting you to call us to book an appointment at one of our community clinics. Please be aware that this relies on the number on your child’s GP record being up to date. If you think your child is outstanding any of their vaccinations and you have not received a text message, please feel free to contact us.

All home educated pupils or young people who don’t attend school will be invited by our team at the relevant age to attend an appointment at one of our community clinics to receive their vaccinations.

GPs do not routinely offer school aged immunisations. However, after 1st September the year they leave year 11 school age, the GP will offer vaccinations that they are still eligible for. To check the national immunisation programme schedule, please visit: NHS vaccinations and when to have them page.

Booking a community clinic appointment

You must submit a consent form before booking an appointment, links are on the right.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to consent in advance when I’m attending the appointment?

Consent forms are triaged by a nurse prior to the clinic to review medical conditions, medications, previous vaccinations and if any reasonable adjustments are required. This review gives time for them to contact you if there is anything they or you need to know before the appointment.

Will they check if they are missing any others?

Yes, if your child is outstanding vaccines that they are still eligible for, they can be offered at the appointment.

What if I don’t consent before?

You will need to complete a consent form in the waiting area, which might mean your appointment time is delayed.

Why don’t you go into my child’s education provision?

We can only vaccinate in provisions that are registered education settings with Leeds City Council as we require a school code for the consent form and to upload on to their medical records. These children are invited to a community clinic.

Where are community clinics?

Saturday morning clinics are held at Hunslet Health Centre, but we do offer clinic venues around the city over the year.

Please note: Do not attend White Rose Office Park for your appointment. This is on your appointment booking but is the trust head quarters and not a clinical site. You will get confirmation of the address via SMS directly from us.

When are community clinics?

Clinics are available in relation to demand but typically run monthly and more frequently during the flu programme.
