Structured diabetes education is designed to give you time, space and support to understand your diabetes in a way that fits your life. Many people tell us that learning even a few key things helps them feel more confident, more in control and less alone with their diabetes.
The LEEDS Programme: Type 2 diabetes education
Our LEEDS Programme is an education programme for people with type 2 diabetes. The course covers information about type 2 diabetes and how changes to what you eat, exercise and lifestyle can help to prevent longer term complications.
The structured education programme is delivered in groups face to face or by video link. However, it is also offered on a 1 to 1 basis if there is a specific need.
If you haven’t been able to join a session yet, it’s never too late, and you’re always welcome.

Leeds Insulin Education for Type 2 Diabetes
If you are already on insulin or are starting insulin therapy, we can offer a friendly, supportive group session to help you manage your diabetes with insulin. You will begin with a session led by one of our specialist diabetes nurses, who will help you feel confident about using insulin day to day. You will also be invited to a session on diet and lifestyle changes, tailored to what people often find most helpful when starting insulin.
After your group sessions, you will have a one-to-one follow-up appointment with the nurse so you can ask questions, check how things are going, and get personalised support before your care returns to your GP.
