Work in Speech and Language Therapy

We offer a half day workshop, twice a year (spring and autumn), to those who have a general interest in or who wish to study to become a Speech and Language Therapist. The workshop presentation contains information about various aspects of Speech and Language Therapy relating to children and adults.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the workshop you will be able to

  • Discover several skills required for communication
  • Recognise difficulties that children and adults can have with communication.
  • Describe some of the many roles of a speech and language therapist.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer observational visits to a clinic or therapy department as our teaching time is committed to Speech and Language Therapy undergraduate students. Course admissions tutors will look at your understanding of the profession and the needs of people with communications disorders, and also your ability to communicate with them, rather than whether you have observed therapists at work.
