LCH helping shape the future of nursing through digital inclusion
October 13, 2026
Leeds Community Healthcare is proud to be showcasing its innovative digital inclusion programme at Nursing Live, one of the UK's largest nursing events.
Amanda Jackson, Associate Chief Clinical Information Officer and Digital Inclusion Lead, will be sharing how LCH is tackling digital exclusion and ensuring people can access healthcare services in ways that meet their individual needs.
Digital inclusion is about helping people overcome barriers to technology by improving access, knowledge, skills and confidence. In healthcare, this can mean the difference between someone successfully accessing services and being left behind.
At LCH, digital inclusion is recognised as a healthcare access and quality issue, particularly for some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.
The organisation has developed a comprehensive approach that combines routine digital ability screening, staff training, practical support, community partnerships and ongoing service improvement.
A key element of this work is the digital ability and literacy screening tool, embedded within clinical assessments through SystmOne. This helps colleagues understand patients' digital skills, confidence and preferences, enabling them to provide tailored support where needed.
The programme is strengthened through partnerships with 100% Digital Leeds and Aire Logic.
Through collaboration with 100% Digital Leeds, LCH connects with a city-wide network of expertise, gains valuable patient insights and supports colleague training and development.
Meanwhile, Aire Logic volunteers work alongside healthcare staff and partners to offer practical one-to-one support through Digital Health Hubs, helping people build confidence using digital tools and healthcare services.
The impact of this work continues to grow, with:
- 10 Digital Health Hubs delivered
- A dedicated hub supporting Young Carers
- more than 650+ service users supported
- 22 volunteers contributing their time and expertise
While digital innovation plays an increasingly important role in healthcare, LCH remains committed to maintaining non-digital access routes whenever digital solutions are not suitable, safe or preferred.
By putting digital inclusion at the heart of service delivery, Leeds Community Healthcare is helping ensure that technology enhances healthcare access rather than creating additional barriers.
