Introducing Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) has been chosen as the name for the new organisation formed through the planned merger of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) and Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH).
The announcement marks an important milestone in preparations to bring the two trusts together on 1 April 2027, creating a single organisation to provide community, mental health, learning disability and neurodiversity services across Leeds and beyond.
The new name follows an extensive engagement process involving staff, service users, carers, members, governors, members of the public, and partner organisations.
A Committee of representatives from both organisations carefully considered the results, stakeholder feedback and wider practical considerations before agreeing the final name.
They concluded that Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust best reflects the organisation being created, while offering the balance between simplicity and distinctiveness that was widely valued by those who took the opportunity to share their views.
Why Partnership?
The word partnership was a significant factor in the decision.
It reflects the way both organisations already work alongside colleagues across health and care services, local government and the voluntary sector. Most importantly, it recognises the importance of working in partnership with the people who use services, their carers and families.
The name reflects a commitment to collaboration, inclusion and a shared ambition to improve health and wellbeing for local communities through joined-up care.
