Thank You Event 2025 – Special Recognition Award

Martin Harris, Head of Information Technology  has been awarded the ‘Special Recognition Award’.  Martin is always willing to go the extra mile, consistently displaying the core values and behaviours of the Trust, and regularly putting the needs of the organisation first to ensure our staff can deliver the best quality care to patients.

This was demonstrated recently when Martin responded to a major incident, which affected the IT systems in two of the Police Custody Suites, causing major disruption to staff.

As always, Martin was quick to respond working diligently and professionally to resolve this issues as fast as possible. This wasn’t a simple task and required Martin to travel extensively, spending hours lying on the floor of the server rooms trying to diagnose and fix the problem.

Whilst managing the practical and technical tasks, Martin also worked calmly and diplomatically to manage the anxiety and fury of other staff, providing the support and assurance needed to mitigate the impact of the problems. Martin always remained calm, never complained and prioritised the organisation and its staff.

Martin often works above and beyond to ensure upgrades, patches, and restarts all take place at a time and to minimise the impact on clinical and corporate services, even though this usually means working in the early hours of the morning or into the evening and weekend. He never seeks recognition or recompense for doing these important tasks which are mostly invisible to the wider organisation, but without them, we would see significantly more disruption than we do.
