Safeguarding children and adults
We are passionate about keeping our patients safe when they are in our care and training all our staff to be able to recognise signs of abuse in all its forms.
Our Safeguarding team makes sure we understand and work within all the guidelines and legal requirements for safeguarding. They also help to explore any allegations or abuse or neglect – often in partnership with colleagues in other public services – and share learning points so we continually improve our services and safeguarding activity. We undertake enquiries into any allegations of abuse or neglect and disseminate learning points to improve services.
We make recommendations on aspects of safeguarding to meet the trust’s responsibilities on local and national guidance in relation to safeguarding, supervision and training for all LCH employees.
The team consists of designated and named professionals, lead professionals, safeguarding advisors and specialist practitioners with responsibility for:
- Safeguarding Adults
- Mental Capacity, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Dementia
- Prevent
- Safeguarding Children
- Specialist Child Protection Medical Services
- Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy and Childhood
- Children Looked After and Care Leavers
- Learning Disability
The team work across all services within the trust and produce an annual report shared with the trust board which highlights key achievements and key ambitions for each of the different areas.
