Equipment

About specialist equipment

Specialist equipment can be useful for children with additional needs when differences in their physical, sensory, or functional abilities make everyday activities more challenging or less safe. Equipment may be recommended when a child is unable to access daily tasks such as sitting comfortably, eating, toileting, sleeping, or participating in play and learning without additional support. It can help  to increase independence, promote participation, reduce risk, and support both the child and their family in daily routines. Recommendations are always tailored to the individual child’s needs, with the aim of enabling them to engage as fully as possible in home, school, and community life.

The William Merrit centre offer a range of adaptive equipment’s and mobility aids that can be trialled in their showroom. They also offer car seat assessment:

Relay UK free support to help deaf people and those who have hearing loss or have a speech impairment to communicate over the phone.
