Have your say on the name of our new organisation
June 8, 2026
You are invited to help shape the future name of our new integrated Trust being created through the merger of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
NHS England has given their approval for our trusts to now develop and submit our full business case that sets out in more detail our plans to unite. We are aiming to go live with this from 1 April 2027 to form an integrated provider for all the health and care services currently provided by our two Trusts across Leeds and beyond.
As part of the ongoing work to bring the two organisations together, a process is now underway to agree a name for the new, integrated trust.
Choosing the right name is an important step in this journey, helping to provide clarity for patients, staff, partners and the public.
Vote now open!
From today (Monday 8 June) you can take part in an online vote to choose your preferred name from a shortlist of four options.
The vote will be open for two weeks and will also include a free text box where you can provide any other thoughts, comments or suggestions you’d like to share with us.
Why is there a shortlist?
NHS organisations must follow strict national naming guidelines, ensuring names are clear, consistent and easy to understand. This means we are selecting from a small number of suitable, compliant options rather than running an open naming exercise.
What’s on the shortlist?
You are asked to choose from the following four options:
- Leeds Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (LHFT): A simple, clear and memorable option. The term healthcare reflects the broad range of services provided by the new organisation.
- Leeds NHS Foundation Trust (LFT): The shortest and simplest option, focusing on a strong and clear shared geographical identity.
- Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT): Highlights the importance of partnership working, which is central to how services are delivered across both organisations, with the NHS, local authority and third sector partners often working closely together.
- Leeds Mental Health and Community NHS Foundation Trust (LMHCFT): A more descriptive option that reflects key parts of our work, although it’s longer and doesn’t cover everything we do. The reversed version (Leeds Community and Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust) has not been included to avoid confusion with a former organisation.
Your feedback matters
We want to hear from as many people as possible, including staff, service users, carers, partners and members of the public.
While the vote itself is not binding, it is an important opportunity to understand your views.
Your feedback, both the voting results and the comments you share, will help shape the final recommendation that is taken forward for approval.
Get involved!
We encourage everyone with an interest in our services to take part and have their say.
Vote on our new Trust name here.
The vote will close at midnight on Sunday 21 June 2026.
This is your opportunity to help influence an important decision as we work towards creating a new organisation that will serve our communities into the future.
