Leeds infant mental health training
Babies brains and bonding
Babies brains and bonding
Develop your understanding of infant neurodevelopment and consider the importance of sensitive, attuned, caregiver-infant relationships.
What is this training?
Babies, brains and bonding provides a comprehensive understanding of infant neurodevelopment from conception to age 2, alongside the role of sensitive early relationships within this critical period.
Underpinned by attachment theory and developments in neuroscience, we consider how you can apply this knowledge in your everyday work, alongside equipping you with evidence-based strategies to support responsive caregiving and encourage healthy brain development. This interactive, face-to-face training aims to help you:
- understand brain development during infancy and how experiences can shape this
- consider current models of attachment theory and how these can be applied within your everyday work.
- enhance your awareness of infant-caregiver interactions.
We recommend that you first complete our babies, brains, and bonding training prior to attending our other training days.
Note: This training is only open to professionals in Leeds working with families in NHS healthcare services including adult mental health, Leeds City Council and third sector services. Please only register with your work professional email address.

Toddler and beyond (TAB)
Toddler and beyond (TAB)
Toddler and beyond focuses on the emotional development of toddlers and the under-fives in relation to the caregiver-child relationship.
What is this training?
Taking you through the journey of the life of a toddler, we examine the emotional development, alongside the brain, social and cognitive development and consider how to optimise this critical stage by supporting the parent-child relationship, so that toddlers and pre-schoolers can develop into emotionally healthy children and adults. We explore the everyday challenges of being and raising a toddler and consider how we can use relational-based approaches in our work with toddlers and their families. This interactive, face-to-face training aims to help you:
- understand brain development during infancy and how experiences can shape this
- consider current models of attachment theory and how these can be applied within your every-day work
- enhance your awareness of infant-caregiver interactions.
Note: This training is only open to professionals in Leeds working with families in NHS healthcare services including adult mental health, Leeds City Council and third sector services. Please only register with your work professional email address. *

- improve your understanding of infant cues, states, and behaviours.
- feel confident sharing this knowledge and information with caregivers and families.
- support sensitive, responsive, and attuned relationships.
